Evaluation: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
I have already separately evaluated my ancillary tasks and trailer, however i do believe it is vital to take consideration of them as a collection. I do believe that they work hand in hand with one an other due theme conveyed throughout the products which help recognize them as one entity.
The first thing i can identify between all three products is the same typography. When i first created my products i dint really take this into consideration, however when i had finished started to reflect on them i realized that this was actually really important in making my media product look professional and realistic. I looked back on my format research and discovered that this was the case for all of the media texts i had analyzed. Consequently i had to change elements throughout the three products, for instance i had to sacrifice using a bold and edgy typefaces. originally i had incorporated fonts which were more conventional to the thriller genre. Instead i had to find a font which was
i could find on each different software that i was creating my tasks on. This included; i movie, illustrator and wix. I actually found this really hard to do, hence why the typeface is so traditional. Although i do believe that sacrificing the style slightly is a lot more important than having three productions which do not look like a collection. I am definitely happy i made the decision to do this as i think it would be difficult to mistake my products as being individual media text and the simplicity throughout is actually really effective.
The second thing in which i did intentionally to ensure my products worked as package was using the same actress throughout. This is absolutely essential as the audience will then see them as a familiar face and eventually link all three products together. I used a combination of shots so that my audience can not only establish her as a character however also make her memorable.
reinstating the image of her licking a knife, this is quite a shocking
scene so therefore by incorporating it not only in my trailer but on my
poster and website to, it is absolutely certain m y audience will be
able to connect them all together. This combination does not only work on the grounds that it makes them link together however it also ensures that the Thriller genre is reinforced. The images conveys so many convention of a thriller film, it involves a weapon, it creates enigmas and it also unsettles the audience. Taking this all into consideration, i am really satisfied with the final outcome and believes that it really enhances the products as a whole.
However taking this all into consideration, i do actually think my website works a lot better with my trailer. This is due to my ability to insert more key themes into it. For example i was able to refer to the woods in my website, this is important as a lot of my protagonists criminal activation happens in the woods, hence why it is reinforced frequently throughout the poster. Due to this being a key part of the
narrative i made the decision to use it as the background for my website, this was so when the audience saw it they immediately linked it back to the trailer. However i wasn't able to reflect this on my film poster, i had initially made the decision to layer it over her face, however when i did this the outcome wasn't very effective. It made the poster look extremely busy and steered
away from the actual atmosphere i was aiming to convey. Another way in which my website and trailer work better together as a product is the mood in which they create, this is partly due to color scheme. Both product are based around very dull and dismal coloring when in contrary the main image on my poster is a speckled red. Although this makes it harder to establish them as one unit, where as my trailer and website are easier to make the link. I intentionally did this with the coloring as i think it makes them appear more sinister and harrowing. dull colors are frequently used within the thriller genre as it represents lifelessness and solemn. my original poster did also fit this themes you can see below, however as a product alone i didn't believe this
was very visually pleasing. Therefore i decided to use the color red which ha connotations of danger and destruction, this immediately catches the audiences attention.
One fundamental way in which i intertwined my products was through the use of social media. I started of by creating a Facebook, twitter an Instagram page for my media text. I gained a following my inviting friends and asking them to share it. As social media is extremely influential in many peoples life today, especially that of my target audience, i believed this was a great base to start of at. By using the snowball effect to create a buzz i was able to ensure that each product i released was seen by many. I started of by writing status' and tweets counting down the release dates of my poster, when i had released that,i was able to gain feedback via comments which i effect helped shaped the outcome of my website as i was able to gauge what features they liked and others they weren't so fond. I built up the same suspense when releasing my website, i made sure my demographic could click straight on the link to get to the website, yet also involve my other platforms of media to once they had visited the website. By connecting my social networking sites, film website, poster and trailer, my audience were able to navigate around all my products with just a click of a button. I believed it was essential to expand my product onto all these multi media platforms in order to meed the needs and gratifications for all audiences, as although my product is mainly based for teenagers and young adults, it was vital i did not leave out older generations whom aren't technology natives. I solved this problem by ensuring that each media text was easily accessible and suitable for all ages.
Although these elements disable the products from looking like a combinations, i do think that the similarity and common themes which flow throughout do outweigh these negatives. Consequently i am happy with the final outcome and do believe that they work effectively and efficiently together as a media product.

social networking sites
I have created a variety of social media accounts in order to promote my movie trailer. In this day and age, social media plays a huge role in the majority of society lives, therefore by using multi media platforms, i am able to reach a mass audience in just a number of seconds. These sites have also been useful in gaining audience feedback, so i can listen to my consumers and provide them with what they want. I am using these sites not only to gain a bigger following, however start a craze as my fans will be able to communicate with each other, sharing ideas and opinions. This will hopefully enable my product to expand further and with that be more successful.

Website format research
I have made the decision to create a website as part of my ancillary task. Although i have made a poster and magazine, i believed it was essential for me to broaden my media knowledge and incorporate different platforms of media. This will not only make my product more entertaining however i believe it was make sure that i am meeting the uses and gratification theory as a large proportion of my target audience are teenagers and young adults whom consume a lot of there times using the internet, therefore i will be able to link the address from my social networking sites and make sure that they are satisfied. I do predict this will enhance by products ability of reaching masses of people as i think that websites are definitely more absorbed by audiences that movie posters due to the ability to constantly reinforcing the message by using web 2.0 and connecting with them, listening to their feedback and being able to build a direct rapport.

How my format research inspired the production of my poster
I believe this poster is really successful, therefore i have adapted some key features i picked up into my final poster. Firstly i think the simplicity of the poster is what first caught my eye and the phrase 'less is more' definitely applied to this. Consequently i have decided to ensure that my image is striking enough so captivate my audience so then i don't need to use to much typography as i believe this can really effect the quality of a poster. I definitely think the deadly weapon compliments the poster, by creating a tense atmosphere it leaves the audience absorbed in the image. As a result of this i have decided to use a weapon in my film poster, though instead i have used a knife, this immediately highlights the genre of the film which is sure to attract the target demographic. Another feature i have incorporated which is inspired by various posters, though this one in particular is the fact that it is a female protagonist holding the weapon. This interests me as it defies the usual stereotype of a female being obedient and passive, but instead playing on characteristics which are more likely to be associate with males such as abuse and violence.
I originally selected this poster to analyse as i believed it was powerful and created enigmas which made me want to watch the film. I believe that it is absolutely key to ensure you leave the audience wanting more. One particular aspect i liked was the ambiguous background image, although i can now see its a face, at first i was slightly mislead. I have loosely included this idea in the image i decided to use for my final poster. I have Photoshopped the image in order to give it a gritty texture, this has made it look inhuman like which was what i was going for. I have also rotated the image, so that on a first glance, the fact that its a face isn't clear until you look closely and can depict certain features. Another aspect of the product which i thought was visually effective,
was the Actors and Actreses names placed at the top of the page. I like their placement on the page as they are separate
from the main features such as the main image and main title, however they are still noticeably as as a viewer our eyes are naturally drawn to the top first. I also think the typography is well suited as it is simple, this is good however because the rest of the poster is very outspoken. I have used this idea for my poster as it not only makes it appear more interesting though it create a professional feel. I have learned that not all of my poster has to have adpects of drama and boldness so the simplicity of this feature is beneficial.
In my opinion this is one the most successful thriller poster, therefore it was absolutely crucial that i used this as inspiration for my poster. The first quality i altered to accommodate style i was aiming to achiever was the bottom section which involved the cast and crew who created the film.
I believe this is a really efficient, as it allows so much information to be shared in such a small segment of the page. The way that it is all packed together makes it catch your attention, this is also helped by the fact it is beneath the main image, so therefore we naturally drawn to it. Embedded into it is also the film studio and entertainment company's logos, this allows the audience to identify ones in which they may have come across before, filling them with hope that the film is worth seeing. This part of the poster is evident in my own, i have changed the font and the layout slightly so it reflect my own personal style, however i aimed to keep it relatively similar. Another feature in which i have adapted is the quote beneath the main title, it is chilling and gives you a slight idea of what to expect to see in the film. I have came up with my own quote which creates an enigmas in order to reel my audience in. The poster is mainly black and white, however color has been subtly woven into it. I originally created a black and white poster however changed my mind and used red, this not only follows the conventions of the three color principle but it also makes it more attractive and associates it with the genre. I have tried to make it look understated in a similar way to this poster, as i want to keep it appearing professional.

Promoting trailer on social media
You can now find out more about the latest news on 'Call Girl' on our Twitter and Facebook pages. To meet the cast, discover unseen images, find out more about release dates and join the conversation.
Facebook; https://www.facebook.com/Officialcallgirl2016/timeline
I have created a Facebook and Twitter page to promote my trailer, i will use this to expand my audience and keep them enticed. The pages will allow my viewers to get together, share ideas and debate, this will hopefully create a buzz and make my product more appealing. By using media convergence i am enabling my brand to reach a wider audience, involving both the young and old, this is essential as i want it to reach as many people as possible. i have so far made tweets in order to create suspense as you can see i publish "who will be at the end of her line next?", this gives my audience a sneak peak into the narrative whilst still creating enigma codes. I will continue to add exclusive images and footage in order to keep my audience on their toes. I have invited people of whom i believe will be interested in my trailer and encouraged them to tell their friends, it is essential that i not only focus on my target demographic, though those who may not necessarily typically watch a thriller, in order to change their minds. So far i have had really good feedback from both pages and a fan base is already forming.

Diary update; Social media
I think creating social media pages for my trailer was a very good idea as it has created a real buzz and i have already started to build a fan base. My social media has been useful for me in a variety of ways, i have been able to keep people updated, create suspense, release teaser trailers and so on. By doing so i have been able to see fans reaction and therefore act up on it.
I have received a lot of feedback on my social media, this is really helpful as i am still in the construction stage, therefore i can still make alterations and respond to their suggestions. I think it is really important to take on board all feedback as they are my consumers and if they are not happy and i do not listen to their ideas, they will be satisfied with my product. It is also vital to not just base my trailer/posters on my personal preference as what i like, may not be suitable for my audience. By being in contact with my consumers has turned out to be very successful as i am able to provide them with what they need and they have reciprocated.
I will keep updating my social media for you to see as being consistent is another key aspect as it is crucial to keep my fans exited, so when my trailer is actually released they will be more inclined to watch it due to the anticipation.

Format research; Thriller magazine
Prior to this research, my knowledge on thriller magazine covers was quite insubstantial, however after studying many and analyzing in depth three, i feel a lot more confident now. The three magazine covers i looked at ion further detail, were all very different, i did this because prior to this i was completely unsure as to how i want my magazine to turn out, therefore by looking at these, i was able to depict elements from each of which i like and dislike so therefore when i create my own magazine it will be diverse. One thing i identified was that the main image, usually contains one actor of which is the most significant in the film, this is because there is a lot more going on visually in terms of mastheads, cover lines and skylines. Consequently, to ensure that the image stands out, it has to be extremely outspoken and dramatic, i am going to take this knowledge and ensure that my photo shoot is diverse and striking, this will balance out the audiences attention on the writing and picture which is vital. I have also depicted that the masthead usually coincides with the theme of the main feature, for example the fire surrounding the typography to foreshadow hell for 'Hell boy'. I think this feature is really beneficial as it not only compliments the color scheme, however looks more advanced and interesting. Another theme i identified between them all is that the colour scheme is quite similar, incorporating three main colors of which are black, white and red. Although this looks good, i may reject this convention in order to stand out and be original. I think the covers where the typography is of similar fonts is more professional looking therefore i definitely think i will stick to this as my main objectives are to not only look scary, though professional to. In concusion, this research

Diary update; Editing
I have now got to the editing stage which is very exiting as i am able to alter my footage in ways in which i never thought id be able to. I am using a combination of imovie and adobe premier as they both are really good software and i want to ensure my trailer is of the highest quality that i can possible make it.
I have learned on both software's how to include different music and also blend music into each other, originally i wanted to simply just use one song as it is perfect for my trailer, however i realized that this may not work in my favor as it will be limiting. Therefore i have decided to use a song with lyrics, creepy sound effects such as heavy breathing and heart beating and also eerie sounds. This was definitely a good decision as it makes my trailer more enticing and seem professional. I am still playing around with the sound for my middle section as this is where the pace picks ups so it is crucial my music reflects this. I have realized how important sound is to a trailer as by keeping the same visuals though changing the sound, a trailer can go from being extremely scary to laughable. Consequently i am really taking my time and researching lots of different sounds so it is perfect.
Another thing which i have found really helpfull in my editing process is the way in which i can change the saturation and brightness of clips, this has enabled me to completely change the outcome of clips which i thought were usefull as they werent creepy enough. I have been able to make the lighting harsher which i have seen in many different thriller trailers as it creates a tense feel. By playing around with colours i can create the illusion that a shot filmed in the day time was filmed in darker lighting which makes it more eerie. By simply changing the colours of shots i can make assosiation between particular ones but also make my trailer suit the thriller genre more.
I have also experimented with changing the speed of different clips, i can use the custom setting which enables me to chose precisely the speed in which i want my clip to be, this enables a lot of flexibility. By slowing a scene down, i am able to create more tension as the audience is forced to absorb all the details therefore it adds a lot of emphais to the clip. I have discovered that speeding a shot up creates a sense of urgency therefore i will use this when my music become more tense and i when i want the action to pick up. I have also used transitions between clips, originally i thought id have to use them between every clip however this has actually taken professionalism away, therefore i used only subtle ones between particular clips as i want to maintain the quality.
Finally i have found film company logos to go at the beginning of my trailer as this makes it appear to be like ones you would actually see on the big screen. I have trimmed them down so they do not take up to much time. I am also in the process of creating my own logo which i hope to follow, this will allow me to express my own ideas whilst expanding my skills.
I am really enjoying the editing process as it allows me to experiment and add my own flare onto my trailer. Seeing it all come together is really exiting.
